DUT ONLINE APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR SOUTH AFRICAN CITIZENS

  1. Certified copy of Identification Documents (ID)
  2. Certified copy of your final Grade 11 results or your National Senior/Matric/ IEB Certificate (if you have already completed Grade 12).
  3. An Email Address
  4. Cell phone number

DUT ONLINE APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

  1. Copy of home country passport (valid and not expired)
  2. A Copy of previous School qualification
  3. Copy of applicant’s tertiary academic qualification (if applicable)
  4. English proficiency
  5. South African study permit

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

The minimum entrance requirements for admission to the DUT for a South African applicant are as below:

For Higher Certificate programmes

A National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by the Council for General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi), with a minimum achievement rating of 3 for English.

For Diploma programmes

A National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by the Council for General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi), with a minimum of achievement rating of 3 for English and a minimum achievement rating of 3 in four recognized NSC 20-credit subjects.

For Bachelor’s Degree programmes

A National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by the Council for General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi), with a minimum achievement rating of 3 for English and a minimum achievement rating of 4 in four NSC 20-credit subjects chosen from the NSC designated subject list.

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR DUT APPLICANTS WITH NCV LEVEL 4

For Higher Certificate:
A National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4 with at least 50% in English.
For Diploma:
A National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4 with the following minimum requirements:
1. At least 50% in three fundamental subjects including, English; and
2. At least 60% of three compulsory vocational
For Bachelor’s Degree:
A National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4 with the following minimum requirements:
At least 60% in three fundamental subjects, including English; and
At least 70% in four compulsory vocational subjects, chosen from the National
Certificate (Vocational) Level 4

Application Fee

DUT requires all applicants to pay an application fee before applying. The amount you pay is dependent on whether you are a South African or not, so if you are an International student, you will pay a fee of R300, but if you are South African enrolling to DUT through the Central Applications Office (CAO), you will pay a non-refundable fee of R250.

NB: It is advisable to visit dut.ac.za to verify if the amount for the application fees has changed or not.

How to Apply to Durban University of Technology

If you are ready to begin your DUT online application,

  1. Visit www.cao.ac.za to start applying
  2. Click on ‘Apply’
  3.  fill out the online CAO application form and provide certified copies of your identity card and Grade 12 diploma
  4. Upload all the documents requested (keep reading to know the required documents)
  5. Pay your application fee
  6. Submit your application

And you’re done, you just have to await a reply from the school. endeavor to keep tracking your application so that you will know whether you have been accepted, or declined. Each candidate will receive written or SMS notification of the results of their application.
